Established in 1995, Department of Finance has pioneered a model of multi-disciplinary financial talent cultivation in a university of foreign languages. We have 8 full–time faculty members, including one professor and six associate professors, most of whom have obtained a doctoral degree and have the experience of studying or researching in internationally renowned overseas universities. Up to now, we have achieved remarkably in teaching and research. Two financial teaching cases have won awards at provincial and ministerial level. We have developed distinct features in the teaching and research of market microstructure and financial risks. We have published a few influential textbooks and dozens of academic papers in the leading journals at home and abroad. We have undertaken a number of research projects at provincial and ministerial level. Apart from the full–time faculty, we are also joined by a team of adjunct professors composed of eminent Chinese and foreign scholars specializing in economics and finance.
We have developed a distinctive model of cultivating multi-disciplinary professionals in financial management with an international vision. In addition to the undergraduate programs, professional graduate programs and academic graduate programs, we also provide courses of finance to students majoring in non-English foreign languages. We have established long–term cooperation with many prestigious foreign universities. In “2015 China Financial Talent Pool Report” released by LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional social networking site, SISU ranked the 14th among the universities with the most finance graduates, surpassing the other Chinese universities of foreign languages. The professional graduate program of MF (Master of Finance)achieved excellent results in the program evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education of China in 2018, ranking the first among the MF programs of 60 colleges and universities.
